Trim Levels
There are several standard trims and packages to keep in mind. These include the Laredo, Laredo E, Limited, Trailhawk, Overland, Summit, SRT, and Trackhawk. This lineup is further extended with limited editions like the Altitude, High Altitude, Upland, and Sterling Edition. All come with a set of halogen quad headlamps and LED taillamps that offer clean lighting when visibility is limited. You'll also notice a tinted, acoustic windshield, as well as an optional dual-pane panoramic sunroof for an extra touch of sun exposure, and bi-xenon HID headlamps for added illumination.
Engine
The Jeep Grand Cherokee is available with one of five engines, all attached to an eight-speed automatic transmission. The first is a base 3.6-liter V-6 pushing out 295 horsepower and 260 pound-feet of torque. It's standard on all trims except the SRT and Trackhawk. The SRT instead opts for a 6.4-liter Hemi V-8 producing 475 horsepower and 470 pound-feet of torque. The Trackhawk tops the category, however, with its 6.2-liter Supercharged V-8. This unit outputs 707 horsepower and 645 pound-feet of torque. On the optional side, you have a 5.7-liter Hemi V-8 that runs on 360 horsepower and 390 pound-feet of torque. Meanwhile, a 3.0-liter EcoDiesel V-6 trails with 240 horsepower but gets a higher output of 420 pound-feet of torque.
Performance
Whether you choose two-wheel or four-wheel drive, the Jeep Grand Cherokee is both durable and reliable. For starters, it features electric power steering, four-wheel anti-lock disc brakes, and tire pressure monitoring. But nothing compares to this SUV's off-roading potential. It can easily tackle uneven terrain, thanks to its available off-road tires and skid plates designed to promote adventure while minimizing vehicle damage. For even more assurance, the SRT and Trackhawk are specially backed by a set of Brembo Performance brakes and a Bilstein suspension system. With a 24.6-gallon fuel tank, the Grand Cherokee gets an EPA-estimated 19 mpg in the city and 26 mpg on the highway. Plus, activate ECO Mode for smoother transmission shifts and boosted fuel economy.
Interior
This five-seater offers a choice between cloth, leather trim, or high-end leather upholstery that perfectly complements a bucket seat frame. Other creature comforts include a dual-zone AC system with air filter, a universal garage door opener, and an optional power sunroof. However, no road trip is complete without a modern multimedia package. Charge up your devices with ease thanks to three auxiliary power outlets. Or, access your music library via Bluetooth audio streaming and smartphone integration. Plus, complementing the standard six-speaker sound system are optional perks such as HD radio and a 19-speaker Harman Kardon audio system.
Safety
The 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee has everything you want for safety. After all, it has a supportive frame backed by supplemental side-curtain and seat-mounted front air bags. It also boasts four-wheel traction control, electronic stability control, and an enhanced accident response system. If those aren't enough to convince you, perhaps the standard rear back-up camera, keyless entry, and theft-deterrent system will.
