Trim Levels
Tradesman
The Tradesman is the base level laborer with vinyl flooring and upholstery. It comes with automatic headlamps, a locking tailgate, heated side mirrors, push-button ignition, a rear-view camera, and more. Upgradeable options are also available.
Big Horn
The Big Horn or Lone Star includes 18-inch alloy wheels, tinted windows, cloth upholstery, and a 60/40-split folding rear bench seat. More options are available for the Big Horn, such as air suspension, LED headlights and taillights, and power adjustable pedals.
Rebel
The Rebel specializes in off-road driving with specialized tires to do so. It also features tow hooks, skid plates, and hill descent control.
Laramie
The Laramie introduces a little luxury with front and rear parking sensors, leather upholstery, heated and ventilated front seats, and keyless entry. Available upgrades include dual-zone automatic climate control and a nine-speaker audio system.
Laramie Longhorn
The Laramie Longhorn comes with 20-inch wheels, a spray-in bedliner, automatic wipers, and a navigation system. It also boasts a CD player. The cabin has leather and rustic barn wood accents. A short bed is an option with the Longhorn.
Limited
Finally, the top of range Limited has a chrome exterior trim, power retractable side steps, and premium leather bucket seats, with safety features including blind spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert.
Engine
The 2019 RAM 1500 has three available engines. The 3.0-liter EcoDiesel V6 engine offers 240 horsepower and 420 pound-feet of torque, and offers Best-in-Class fuel efficiency with 20 mpg city/27 mpg highway. Kicking things up a notch, the 3.6-liter Pentastar V6 engine brings 305 horsepower and 269 pound-feet of torque. Finally, the 5.7-liter Hemi V8 engine tops off at 395 horsepower and 410 pound-feet of torque. The towing capacity tops out at 10,140 pounds.
Performance
Due to its progressive rear springs or optional air suspension, the RAM rides more like a car, absorbing the bumps and maneuvering more easily than most trucks. The 8-speed automatic transmission changes smoothly and the pickup handles well on the road.
Interior
The interior is equipped with the fourth-generation Uconnect system, which includes Apple CarPlay integration. Staying connected is a breeze with the fast USB charging ports. A highlight of the interior is the luxurious spaciousness that is available to passengers, including 41 inches of incomparable legroom. The same can be said for the storage capacity, with cargo capacity ranging from 50 to 70 cubic feet depending on the model.
Safety Features
Security and safety features abound across the trim levels. These include Blind Spot Monitoring with Rear Cross Path and Trailer Detection, Lane Departure Warning Plus, Adaptive Cruise Control with Stop and Go, and available Parallel and Perpendicular Park Assist. 98 percent of the steel frame is made up of high-strength steel, which gives the RAM extra strength.
