Trim Levels
The base model is the SXT, which features a rear view camera, fog lights and heated mirrors, along with 18-inch alloy wheels. The 2019 GT adds a hood similar to that of the SRT, plus the same fog lights and front fascia found on the R/T. The Citadel is all about luxury and practicality, with roof-rail crossbars, all-around parking sensors, a cargo cover, xenon headlights, folding mirrors, and a sunroof. If you are more concerned with speed than luxury, you should choose the R/T, with its lowered ride-height and performance hood design. At the top of the tree sits the SRT, with its auto-leveling headlights and high-performance suspension.
Engine
Most potential Dodge buyers will want to look at this section first. The SXT, GT, and Citadel are powered by a 3.6-liter V-6 engine, giving out 295 horsepower and 260 pound-feet of torque. Step up to the R/T and you get a 5.7-liter V-8, producing 360 horsepower and 390 pound-feet of torque. The SRT outdoes even this, however, with a 6.4-liter V-8 producing a mighty 475 horsepower and 470 pound-feet of torque.
Performance
The numbers reflect the power sitting under the hood. The SRT version can get from 0 to 60 mph in 4.4 seconds, and its quarter-mile time is a tidy 12.9 seconds. The SRT can tow a huge 8,900 pounds, but the other versions are more than capable too. The V-6 powered models can still pull up to 6,200 pounds, while the R/T can move 7,400 pounds. All that power does have a cost in terms of economy, but the V-6 versions return a reasonable 18 mpg in the city, 25 mpg on the highway, and 21 mpg overall.
Interior
The SXT has seats which split and fold in both second and third rows, plus triple-zone climate control, a six-speaker sound system, and a 7-inch touch screen. The GT is fitted with a satellite radio and a power-adjustable driver's seat. The Citadel takes the interior even further up-market, with more electrically-adjustable seats, more leather, an extra three speakers, an 8.4-inch touch screen, and a GPS system. Simulated-suede and leather upholstery features in the R/T and SRT. The seating capacity is six in the Citadel and SRT, due to the fitting of second-row captain's chairs, while all other versions can seat seven.
Safety
The 2019 Durango offers active head restraints, protecting occupants against whiplash. There are various optional safety packages offering additional active safety features, such as lane-departure warnings, adaptive cruise control, automatic emergency braking, blind spot monitoring, and active lane control. This gives you the opportunity to select the best possible package to protect yourself and your family. The NHTSA has given the Durango a four-star rating overall.
