Although Casper, Wyoming, is best known for its oil heritage, rodeos, and cowboy culture, there’s more to the town than meets the eye. One of those aspects is the city’s abundance of chill, relaxing, and modern cafes. Long gone are the days of a five-cent cup of joe, but at these spots, you can hang out all day, sip a latte or mocha, surf the web, or interact with other coffee connoisseurs.

1. Java Jitters Espresso

Billing itself as “Casper’s Best Coffee,” Java Jitters Espresso certainly has some huge aspirations. But with one sip of their premium coffee, you just might agree. This cozy little space with exposed brick walls and friendly baristas has traditional beverages such as lattes and cappuccinos, but if you’re feeling like you need something extra, they have some options to please.

The Raspberry Rampage is one of their top sellers, featuring espresso with steamed Mexican chocolate milk, raspberry, whipped cream, and drizzled caramel. If that doesn’t send your taste buds into hyperdrive, try the Banana Bliss, which mixes cold-brewed coffee blended with banana and chocolate, then topped with whipped cream.

Java Jitters Espresso is located at 211 S. Montana Ave. in the Hilltop Shopping Center. Hours are from 5:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily.

2. Blue Ridge Coffee

Posh, yet cozy and relaxing, Blue Ridge Coffee looks like a coffee shop that was suddenly beamed from a cosmopolitan city right into the center of Casper. That’s not to say that it’s for city slickers only, but it has a vibe that’s unique and enthralling.

While purists might enjoy their freshly brewed drip coffee, Blue Ridge specializes in flavored cappuccinos and lattes, as well as their famed caramel apple cider. The cafe doesn’t have a set menu of their concoctions, so a touch of creativity on your part and advice from the baristas will get you just what you’ve been craving.

Located at 4601 SW Wyoming Blvd., Blue Ridge Coffee is open from 6 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday and 6:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday.

3. Metro Coffee Company

Situated in a nearly 100-year-old building, Metro Coffee Company has a chic, modern industrial vibe that’s apparent from the exterior and certainly once you walk through the door. Exposed brick, a piano that encourages people to tickle the ivory, plenty of seating, and high-speed WiFi provide a place where you can relax for hours on end. While the drip coffee and cappuccinos are amazing, don’t miss out on the flavored lattes. With choices such as Mexican chocolate, raspberry truffle, caramel hazelnut, and mocha, you’ll get a one-two punch of sweetness and caffeine that will take your day to the next level.

You can find Metro Coffee Company at 241 S. David St. Hours are from 6:30 a.m. to 10 p.m. Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. on Saturday, and 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. on Sunday.

Whether your idea of a delicious coffee is a large iced sugar-free vanilla latte with soy milk or a standard cup of pure, unadulterated, caffeinated bliss, you’ll find it all at these cafes throughout Casper.
